Duties

Help
  • Providing position classification and position management advisory services.
  • Consulting with and advising managers and supervisors on a variety of technical human resources issues.
  • Interpreting and applying OPM position classification standards to determine the proper official position titles, occupational series, and grade levels.
  • Preparing concise classification evaluation summaries and statements and discussing findings with management officials and employees.
  • Using a variety of automated HR tools and systems, including OPM's eOPF, USDA's National Finance Center personnel processing systems, EmpowHR, Excel, and SharePoint.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Human Resources Specialist (Classification) at (GS-0201-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.

To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess the following: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, including directly related experience: 1) Applying human resources regulations, policies and procedures related to position classification; 2) Classifying administrative and professional positions; and 3) Utilizing automated HR systems, such as eOPF and EmpowHR.
