Duties

Help

As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as both the Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (FECM) Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations Program (COOP) manager.
  • Serve as a member of the Continuity and Emergency Management Team, as a technical consultant, and senior advisor for planning, coordination, implementation, and management of COOP requirements within FECM including plans for physically dispersed FECM locations within the Metropolitan Washington area.
  • Establish and maintain emergency response operation and stay informed of all issues that relate to these vital and mission-sensitive programs.
  • Represent FECM on various interagency and intra-agency Response Teams and working groups, which focus on best practices, lessons learned, and guidance in the area of emergency response (e.g., biological, chemical, and pandemic safety).
  • Provide and support Emergency Operations Center activities and as needed routinely support FECM Safeguards and Security Program goals, primarily to provide guidance and oversite of secure compartmented information facility space.

  • This position is an ?On Call? position and designated as ?Emergency Essential? and will require irregular hours and mandatory overtime. You will be required to live within 60 minutes of the duty location and possess a valid State Driver?s License.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  1. Applying emergency management principles, related policies, regulations, procedures.
  2. Providing authoritative advice, guidance, and recommendations on emergency management programs and/or projects and evaluating Emergency Response Organization (ERO) drills and exercises.
  3. Serving as an expert consultant advising in preparedness matters pertaining to Continuity of Operations, Continuity of Government and acts as technical representative on multi-agency emergency management and preparedness issues.
