Summary

This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Energy in the Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects (OIIS). As an Investigative Analyst, you will augment the Hotline staff in conducting interviews by obtaining significant information and potential evidence in support of ongoing investigations/inquiries. The analyst prepares investigative reports and conducts oral briefs.

Duties

Help

As a Investigative Analyst, you will:

  • Collaborate with investigators to develop profile data and trend analyses.
  • Correlate and evaluate the collected information to detect patterns which indicate violations of Federal policy or laws.
  • Conduct interviews and identifies and obtains significant information and potential evidence to support ongoing investigations.
  • Conduct research on case law and past practices on various online services to include Lexis/Nexis and National crime data bases.
  • Evaluate facts to determine intent and potential violations; identifies trends associated with complaints, findings, and investigative outcomes.
  • Prepare various summary documents that cross reference all related materials and prepares written investigative reports.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of Investigative Analyst specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or equivalent pay band in the Federal service providing support of criminal prosecutions and civil or administrative judgments. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  1. Conduct research, analysis and/or evaluations of information to assist investigators in ongoing investigations.
  2. Formulate information source search strategies and review data to identify patterns or trends, and relationships across financial, criminal, and public record.
  3. Utilize sources of information from evidence, public or subpoenaed records, intelligence available from law enforcement activity, and/or various data bases to detect violations of law.
