Duties

Help

As an Intergovernmental and External Affairs Specialist, you will:

  • Carry out in-depth analyses of specific issues and present findings and specific recommendations to IGEA management.
  • Provide advice on strategic outreach opportunities that arise in policy development and program proposals for various Office and Department activities, and in implementing programs.
  • Work closely with subnational and stakeholder organizations as a liaison and keeps abreast of sensitive issues and priorities within these organizations as they relate to DOE programs and projects.
  • Ensure that the views and concerns of these constituencies are considered in DOE's decision-making process.
  • Review and develop documents and consults with CI staff and other Department program officials on these issues and communicates Departmental policies and decisions to intergovernmental and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences within and outside the Office and the Department to gather information and represent the Department.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
For the GS-14:
A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  • Assisting with the execution of high-level meetings and briefings, and dealing with coordination and communication with internal and with external organizations.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of policies and positions to provide advice on strategic outreach opportunities in policy development and program proposals for various Office and Department activities, and in implementing programs.
  • Providing analyses of how stakeholder activities would impact DOE policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Engaging in discussions on issues, policy decisions, and/or determinations in meetings involving new or critical and controversial issues that are highly sensitive.
