Duties

Help

As an Auditor for The Office of Inspections, Intelligence Oversight, and Special Projects(OIIS), you wil be responsible for the following:

  • Conducting reviews of specific areas of concern identified as possibly impacting on the operations of the Department or indicating noncompliance by the Department with rules or regulations.
  • Conducting meetings and interviews of top management personnel in the Department, at other Federal Agencies, and with contractor organizations.
  • Developing findings and recommending changes in programs, operations, and/or resource utilization to resolve problems, provide balanced program operations, and achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drafting and indexing workpapers to reports and other written products that are responsive and address specific noncompliance with laws, regulations, Department directives, and/or any other areas of concern where findings, conclusions, and recommendations are presented in a clear, concise, and logical manner

Qualifications

In addition to the basic eligibility requirements, listed in the Education section of this announcement, applicants must have the following specialized experience and/or directly related education or a combination.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  1. Conducting reviews of management issues and administrative allegations and making recommendations for corrective action.
  2. Reviewing, analyzing, evaluating and reporting on complex programs, project, and issues.
  3. Developing findings and recommending changes in programs, operations, and/or resources utilization to resolve problems.
  4. Providing timely, accurate, and concise communication,

To qualify for the GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree.

To qualify for the GS-12: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11.

To qualify for the GS-13: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12.

Education

All applicants must meet one of the following basic eligibility requirements in order to qualify for this position:

A. Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.

or

B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

  1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
  2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
Applicants must submit an unofficial transcript or a list of courses, grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and semester hours earned. Education completed in foreign colleges and universities may be used if the institution has been accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education.
