Duties

Help

As a Senior Science Advisor (Policy and International Programs), you will:

  • Develop bibliometric and data analytic approaches to analyze expert decision making in research security.
  • Evaluate project benefits and costs of current activities to determine viability.
  • Demonstrate and develop expert scientific methods for program development and international collaboration.
  • Provide expert guidance relating to international science cooperation and research security to officials and managers.
  • Compose congressional testimony and represents the organization at interagency and international forums and events.
  • Prepare briefings and meetings that include the exchange of information, negotiations, and/or promotion of international program activities.

  • This position is included in a Bargaining Agreement.
  • You will be required to complete an OF-306, "Declaration for Federal Employment" form used to (a) determine your suitability for Federal employment and/or security clearance.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  • Provide scientific advice to support projects involving environmental/physical sciences research areas.
  • Develop comprehensive plans and strategies to support the administrative functions of scientific research activities.
  • Interpret policy and advise on strategic decision making to officials and managers.
  • Prepare technical briefings and reports to present to diverse technical and international audiences.
The OPM Group Qualification Standard for this position is: 0301 Administrative and Management positions.

Time-in-Grade: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.

Education

Education cannot be substituted for experience at the GS-13 grade level for this series.
