Duties

Help

As a Personnel Security Specialist for The Office of Management and Administration office, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Serve as a Personnel Security Specialist reviewing, screening and evaluating reports of investigation conducted by National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DSS), and other Government agencies.
  • Review written evaluations of derogatory, discrepant, missing and/or mitigating information found in investigative reports or files that raises security concerns regarding access authorization or personnel suitability.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and implement security policy and procedural guidance.
  • Maintain official files for administrative records, office correspondence, and Freedom of Information Act requests.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of a GS-12 In the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  1. Processing clearance request forms as well as evaluating reports of investigation in cases involving a request for personnel suitability determination
  2. Screening and evaluating reports of investigation conducted by National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DSS), and other Government agencies.
  3. Reviewing written evaluations of derogatory, discrepant, missing and/or mitigating information found in investigative reports or files that raises security concerns regarding access authorization or personnel suitability.
  4. Interpreting, evaluating, and implementing security policy and procedural guidance.
  5. Maintaining official files for administrative records, office correspondence, and Freedom of Information Act requests.

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-13 level.
