Duties

Help

As a Government Information Specialist, you will:

  • Plans, develops, directs, and executes Golden and NREL policies, positions, standards, and procedural guidance on the overall conduct of the FOIA and PA programs.
  • Independently analyzes FOIA/PA requests in accordance with Federal laws, regulations, established procedures, case laws, orders, and evolving guidance provided by DOE, the Department of Justice (DOJ), and Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
  • Interacts as a technical advisor and authoritative expert with high-level officials in EERE Office of Public Affairs, the EERE Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, and the EERE Offices of the Assistant Secretary and Deputy Secretaries.
  • Ensures that the records management program at Golden conforms to the rules, regulations, and policies of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) and Department of Energy, are in the appropriate order, and satisfy reviews and inspections.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

  • GS-13: Experience serving as the technical authority for programs related to Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act, managing all aspects of these programs to include interfaces with the public; experience analyzing FOIA/PA request in accordance with Federal laws, regulations case laws and guidance provided by the Department of Justice and Office of Management and Budget.
  • GS-12: Experience providing independent guidance on the disposition and scheduling of government records; experience effectively communicating technical information.

Providing a knowing and willful false statement on either DOE's COVID-19 Vaccination Form prior to starting or when providing proof of vaccination in DOE's MyEnergy system once onboard is punishable by fine and/or imprisonment (18 U.S.C. 1001) and will result in termination from Federal service.
