Duties

Help

This position as promotion potential to the GS-2210-13. This position will be filled at either the GS-12 or the GS-13 grade level. At the lower grade levels, the selectee will perform assignments under closer supervision than that required at the full performance level of a GS-13. Assignments become progressively more difficult until the next performance level is reached. At the full performance level, GS-13 Information Technology Specialist, you will

  • Information Technology assignments, including operating and maintaining the Communications Center.
  • Develop and manage the Communications Security budget needs.
  • Install and operate secure communications systems.
  • Conduct assessments and testing to provide technical guidance and make recommendations to Management Official.
  • Provide specialized oversight and technical expertise in the development, implementation, and administration of Information Management activities.
  • Serve as technical consultant to DOE-ID, Management Official, DOE Program Office and other governmental agencies in Information Management matters as required.

Qualifications

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

In addition to the above, applicants must meet the following SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

For GS-12
: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:

1)Providing feedback on the technologies, techniques and tools to configure deploy and maintain Tactical Local Area Network Encryption devices.
2)Provide technical assistance in development, implementation and administration of assigned information management/communications system activities.
3) Assists in protecting and controlling classified Communications Security Materials.

1)Working efficiently and effectively on protecting and controlling classified Communications Security Materials.
2) Provide technical oversight assistance in development, implementation and administration of assigned information management/communications system activities.
3)Identify new and emerging concepts, technologies, techniques and tools to configure deploy and maintain Tactical Local Area Network Encryption devices.
