Summary

The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) will work closely with the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Human Resources and Administration (DAAG/HRA), to lead and coordinate the Department's diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives consistent with applicable laws and merit systems principles. The CDO will work to ensure that DEIA remains a priority in the Department and provide an organizational channel for Department-wide accountability.

Duties

Help
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to the DAAG/HRA, as well as other senior-level officials within the Department, on DEIA-related issues impacting the Department's components.
  • Serve as a Co-Chair for the Diversity Management Advisory Council and ensure there is communication and cooperation between Department employees and managers.
  • Coordinate the Department's DEIA work, to address the requirements of Executive Order (E.O.) 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility in the Federal Workforce
  • Analyze existing DEIA DOJ policies, procedures, and practices, and identify areas where corrective action is needed to foster an organizational culture shift that is in alignment with E.O. 14035.
  • Ensure the availability and accessibility of DEIA training and continuous learning opportunities throughout the Department .
  • Develop and/or evaluate available Departmental data, metrics, and research studies to benchmark best practices and enhance DEIA initiatives within the Department.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Chief Diversity Officer, (GS-0301-15), you must meet all qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to the series and grade you are applying to.

If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).

For the GS-15 level: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as providing leadership, guidance, and/or direction on the management and execution of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) programs; using DEIA information (such as data, metrics, or research studies) to develop standards or benchmarks for an organization; and providing technical advice and recommendation to leadership and senior executives in an organization on DEIA initiatives.
