Conduct inspections investigations, and sample collection for violations
Determine adequacy of evidence
Provide information and guidance to foreign government counterparts or entities, U.S. Federal Agencies, private industry, and universities on unique and complex regulatory issues and matters.
Represent the organization before large public and private organized groups and meetings as a technical expert in area of specialization.
Serve as an instructor with responsibility for providing training and instruction to acquaint lower level trainees, agency employees,
foreign regulatory counterparts and regulated industry.

Qualifications
This position has a positive education requirement:
All applicants must have A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in quality assurance or a related degree that included at least 30 semester hours in one or a combination of the following: consumer laws, biological sciences, food science, chemistry, pharmacy, physical sciences, food technology, nutrition, medical science, engineering, epidemiology, veterinary medical science, legal investigations, law enforcement, or related scientific fields that provided knowledge directly related to consumer safety officer work. The 30 semester hours may include up to 8 semester hours in statistics, or course work that included the principles, theory, or practical application of computers or computer programming.

A combination of education and experience--courses consisting of at least 30 semester hours in the fields of study described in paragraph A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Specialized Experience:

All applicants must have must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service to include experience in conducting FDA foreign inspection/investigations of regulated commodities and products. The position of Consumer Safety Officer (Open Continous) falls within the 0696 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-13, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 06/14/2021.
