Help

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and directs work assignments in relation to Grand Coulee Dam power operations.
  • Oversees work practices to ensure compliance with industry safety standards and precedents.
  • Identifies and schedules all lock-out relays to be tested.
  • Prepares and documents correct testing procedures for each lock-out relay in accordance with Reclamation's Hazardous Energy Control Program instructions and standards.
  • Ensures training and certification requirements are met for all power operations personnel in accordance with industry standards.
  • Performs other related duties assigned within this job classification.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard for the WG-5400 Industrial Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is notrequired for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element requirement indicatedand demonstrate through experience and training that you possess the required quality level ofknowledge and skills necessary to perform the major duties of the position at the level for which you areapplying. Emphasis of requirements is on the quality of relevant experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Qualifications will be determined on the basis of information submitted within your resume and responses to the assessment questions. Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Condition of Employment For Probationary Period: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. This probationary period is an extension of the appointment process and therefore requires the agency to determine if continued employment would advance the public interest, meet the organization goals and mission of the agency, and/or otherwise promote the efficiency of the service. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, the agency will consider:

  • Your performance and conduct;
  • the needs and interests of the agency;
  • whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and
  • whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the Federal service.

Reclamation has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and you may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses or first-post-of-duty relocation expenses are authorized, as applicable, with the exception of the Guaranteed Home Sale Provision. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), signed into law December 2017, suspends the moving expense deduction and the exclusion from income of qualified employer reimbursements of moving expenses that was allowed under previous tax laws.
