The duties and responsibilities for a Government Information Specialist, GS-0306-14 generally include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Monitoring Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) guidelines for agency wide application.
* Providing guidance in the development and establishment of FOIA and Privacy Act (PA) policies and procedures.
* Managing a department's FOIA program.
* Developing ways to resolve problems directly affecting the FOIA process.
* Preparing FOIA reports.
* Interpreting regulations or agency policies regarding the release of information under the FOIA.

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Government Information Specialist, at GS-0306-14you must meet the specialized experience requirements listed below.

For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service handling high-level official Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act issues, such as congressionals; provides technical advice regarding Freedom of Information Act matters; and implements Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act requirements and policies.

You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the 06/10/2026 of this announcement.

How You Will be Evaluated
Once the announcement closes, a review of your resume and supporting documentation will be conducted by the HR Specialist. This information will be compared against your responses to the application questionnaire to determine your eligibility for Federal employment, and then whether you are qualified for this particular position. If a determination is made that you have inflated your responses when compared to your background information, you may be deemed ineligible.

Qualified applicants who pass the Job Knowledge Test, which is used to determine proficiency, will be referred to the selecting official for consideration. The Hiring Official may select any qualified candidate.
