As a Utility Systems Repairer Operator Leader, you will
Lead a crew of semi-skilled and skilled workers in water and wastewater treatment plant operations.
Operate the water systems and is responsible for proper operation, monitoring, and maintenance of water treatment facilities, storage and distribution systems which provide between 500 and 50,000 gallons per day for public and domestic use.
Operate Wastewater Treatment systems and is responsible for the efficient operation, maintenance, repairs, and monitoring of an Activated Sludge / Extended Aeration Treatment plant with state-of-the-art treatment processes.
Keep supervisor informed concerning all aspects of quality and regulatory compliance of water or wastewater systems, condition of plants and equipment, infiltration or intentional contamination of the domestic water supply.

Physical Demands: Work is performed in work areas that require incumbent to stand, stoop, bend and work in tiring uncomfortable positions. He/she occasionally lifts and carries supplies, materials and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. May occasionally handle items with assistance that weigh over 50 pounds. Light to moderate physical effort is required in turning valves and controls and to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs and occasionally with assistance up to 75 lbs. May work from ladders, platforms, scaffolds and perform work or repairs in hard to reach places and positions. Requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Required to operate standard hand and power tools.
Working Conditions: Incumbent works outdoors during the majority of their tour of duty primarily during daylight hours, however, may work night hours during inclement weather or for emergency response. Temperatures range from -10 degrees F to over 100 degrees F. Summer conditions could include dirt, dust, noise, and potential hazards in the form of poisonous plants, insects, wild animals and snakes. Winter conditions include rain, snow, ice, and windblown whiteout/blizzard. Duties are performed at elevations ranging up to 8,000 feet. Operation of vehicles is made on curving narrow mountainous roads and occasionally off-road terrain.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
