Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is located in the Sonoran Desert in Southwestern Arizona. Park headquarters is located 35 miles from Ajo, Arizona and 5 miles from the international boundary with Mexico. Park housing is very limited and most employees live in Ajo. The nearest cites to Ajo include Phoenix (90 miles away) and Tucson (120 miles away). Two commuter vans operate between Ajo and Monument offices.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. Physical Demands: Exerts very heavy physical efforts in doing such tasks as frequently lifting and moving objects weighing 30 to 50 pounds and items up to 70 pounds with assistance of other workers or weight-handling equipment, pushing heavy wheelbarrow loads, and operating power tools. Extensive walking, bending, and lifting are required by this position.
Working Conditions: Incumbent is required to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions and inside areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy and could be exposed to fumes. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones. The equipment, tools and tasks involved frequently require special care to reduce serious injuries. Incumbent uses safety gloves, earplugs, and safety glasses to avoid severe injuries. Incumbent is required to work various shifts Monday through Friday and may include weekends and holidays. Motor vehicles are driven in all types of weather and traffic on public roads and incumbent is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Incumbent is required to wear a seat belt.
Incumbent is required to wear and maintain the prescribed National Park Service uniform while on duty in the park. Personal appearance will follow the established uniform standard.
