As a Biological Science Technician, you will perform the following duties:
Performs complex biological science technical support functions in one or more of the following program areas: wildlife, fisheries, or plants.
Assists in the planning and implementation of wildlife censuses and surveys and recommends wildlife management practices.
Assists professional staff in planning field research and resource monitoring programs for evaluating rare, threatened and endangered wildlife species, population dynamics, ecosystem relationships and public health/safety issues.
Monitors and assists in the management of wildlife.
Conducts surveillance to help detect invasion and new colonization by non-native plant and animal species.
Utilize various Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) products to collect, analyze, and represent field data collected and creates data driven map products and internal and external reporting and representation.
Operates a variety of field equipment commonly used in wildlife and plant studies, including motor vehicles, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) equipment and wildlife traps.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.

You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month.
You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Research activity or control program work; Nursery work that required the growing and maintenance of plants in a controlled environment; and/or Work comparable to that with a large dairy farm where production records, animal environment, and sanitary conditions were kept in accordance with modern dairy practice. NOTE: Farming experience that was not performed in a controlled environment, or experience as a laborer who was not responsible for planning and scheduling his/her own work, but only performed assigned tasks, would not qualify as specialized experience. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two full years of graduate education or a master's degree (36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours) of graduate education in courses in a field of study directly related to the position to be filled such as: biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics). You must include transcripts.

COMBINATION EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. To compute this percentage, first divide the total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide the number of completed higher-level graduate education semester hours (that are in excess of 27 semester hours) by 36. Add the two percentages together; the total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE: Only higher-level graduate education in excess of more than two-years may be used to qualify for this position. You must include a copy of your transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Education
