Duties

Help

  • Operate the main units, station service boards, pumping plant, and water conveyance equipment in order to meet electrical load and water schedules.
  • Monitor primary and secondary communications circuits to all system plant facilities.
  • Prepare switching orders and switching and/or valve lineups to configure plant systems for equipment maintenance or repair.
  • Observe and document abnormal operating conditions in the plant, determining nature, cause, and corrective actions to address identified issues.
  • Provide technical support/direction to various crafts, engineers, powerplant operators, etc.
  • Evaluate and analyzes operating interruptions and diagnose cause.
  • Prepare technical documentation and maintain pertinent data logs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned within this classification.

  • This position is designated as a Moderate Risk Public Trust position. It requires a fully completed and favorably adjudicated Public Trust Suitability Background Investigation (T2S or T2RS or equivalent) that is current (within the last 5 years). This is a condition of employment.
  • You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency.
  • You may be required to serve an initial probationary period.
  • Periodic and recurring safety and occupational health examinations will be required.
  • Work Schedule is subject to change with short notice to include working different schedules during normal pay period.
  • Will be required to work rotating shift schedules. This includes first shift, second shift, third shift, federal holidays, some weekends, and during emergencies.
  • Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard for the WG-5400 Industrial Equipment Operation Family. You must meet any screen-out element(s) listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
