Summary

Serve as the organizational Security Manager under the supervision of the Supervisory Special Assistant to Director and Deputy Director of the Facilities Services Directorate (FSD). Responsibilities include serving as the principal advisor to the FSD Director and Deputy Directors on all security matters, oversees the development, integration and standardization of the FSD security programs, and assists in coordinating Construction Security Plans and compliance in ICD 705 construction standards.

As a SECURITY OFFICER (PROGRAM MANAGER), GS-0080-13, typical work assignments under normal supervision may include the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates personnel, physical, industrial, and information security and operations.
  • Monitors and reports on security program administration through staff visits and security inspections to ensure effective and uniform compliance with DOD directives and regulations.
  • Develops new or revised policies standards, or procedures to meet changing conditions or correct deficiencies in the programs or functions.

You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

To qualify at the GS-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as:

  • Conducting security inspections, identifying security problems and resolving problems.
  • Negotiate with security officials, present findings and recommendations, conduct security training and security briefings, provide guidance on the application and implementation of security policies and procedures, and to prepare command security regulations.
  • Interpret and apply the latest security regulations and directives in order to implement security policies and procedures within the organization.
  • Analyze and review classified documents and determine proper classification and downgrading/declassification markings.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
