Perform general plumbing maintenance, such as maintaining plumbing to kitchen and bathroom fixtures and sprinkler systems and fuel supply pipe systems to buildings and residences.
Perform general carpentry work, such as repairing, constructing, installing, and replacing doors, shelves, windows, trim, cabinets, shelves, shutters to buildings and inside of residences.
Perform general HVAC work including repairing, replacing, and cleaning of HVAC systems in housing and buildings.
Perform general painting, masonry work, roofing etc.
Utilize a variety of materials, tools and equipment associated with the repair and maintenance of structures and grounds.
Maintain, construct, repair, and alters a variety of structures and surfaces of brick, block, stone.
Performs maintenance, repair, restoration and stabilization of cultural resources.
Restore, stabilize, or repair floors of brick, or stone
Area Information.
Fort Davis National Historic Site. Fort Davis National Historic Site is located on the East flank of the Davis Mountains adjacent to the town of Fort Davis. The park shares a boundary with the 2700-acre Davis Mountain State Park. Surrounding areas are predominantly arid ranching lands with a mixture of open grasslands and rugged mountains rising to 8380 feet and form some of the most spectacular scenery in Texas. Temperatures are mild for the area, but extremes of 95 degrees in the summer and below freezing temperatures in the winter may occur. Frequent weather fronts bring winds in excess of 40 mph. Elevation at the historic site is 4,900 feet with an average yearly rainfall of approximately 10-15 inches. Housing is moderate to expensive with a relatively limited rental market. Elementary and secondary schools, banks, churches, small stores, gas stations, cafes, doctors, dentist, post office and hotels/motels are available in the towns of Fort Davis; Marfa (21 miles) or Alpine, which is a busy commercial center and home to Sul Ross State University.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.

You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
You will be required to complete a one-year trial period.
You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.

This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition. Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.
Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees).
Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment, paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks and biting insects.
