Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds. Inventory and/or restock fee program supplies and assist with placing orders and preparing requisition requests for equipment/supplies as needed.

Additional duties for GS-06: Review and verify the accuracy of manuals and/or standard operating procedures for the implementation of new and existing system designs and/or modifications.

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

Career-Seasonal positions are subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, the selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. The selectee is guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season is February to January but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions.

You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required within 10 days from entry-on-duty. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
You will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 2 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

To qualify for this position at the GS-5 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: handling, tracking, or depositing monies; using software programs to maintain financial/accounting data (such as fee and stock data); performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties; using tools or equipment (e.g., cash registers, calculators, etc.) to make sales transactions; or ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial records. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4 years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. One full year of academic study is 30 semester hours. You must include transcripts.

Possession of an equivalent combination of education and experience (only education in excess of the first 60 semester ours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement). For example, 6 months of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 1 year beyond the second year of college study (50% of the qualifying education), equals 100% of the total requirement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts.

Possession of an equivalent combination of education and experience. For example, 6 months of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 12 semester hours of graduate study from an accredited institution (75% of the qualifying education), equals greater than 100% of the total requirement. You must include transcripts.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Physical Demands: This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, and lifting of moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money. If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, or emergency response duties.

Working Conditions: This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station. Work is often performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone and/or in isolated locations.

The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are NOT suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Bullfrog - Kane County, Utah is a small, remote, in-park community of approximately 300 residents during the summer and 100 residents in the winter. Amenities include a marina, marina store and gas docks, seasonal lodge and restaurant, gas station/convenience store and garage, an urgent care clinic, and a K-12 school. Teacher/student ratio is 1 teacher per 2-5 students. Full-service communities are in Green River, Utah (113 miles) and Price, Utah (143 miles) which has a small hospital and dentists. Major services are available in Cortez, Durango, and Grand Junction, Colorado, or Page, Arizona, all 3 to 5 hours away via all-weather highways. The Bullfrog area encompasses beautiful red-rock canyon country. Bullfrog is the main access point to Lake Powell in the Uplake District and visitation is heavy in the summer. Summer temperatures run to the low 100's and winter temperatures are in the 30's with sunshine most days of the year. Recreation runs the spectrum of outdoor activities with backpacking, canyoneering, skiing (water and snow), boating, whitewater sports, hunting and fishing all within a few hours' drive and some within walking distance of the housing area. This is an active outdoor community, and social events are common.
