This position is part of the Office of Science - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Computer Scientist, you will serve as a scientific authority and expert in high performance computational science, which encompasses the diverse areas of physical sciences, applied mathematics and computer science; data management and policies; machine learning and artificial intelligence, and advanced scientific computing research facilities.
Summary
This position is part of the Office of Science - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Computer Scientist, you will serve as a scientific authority and expert in high performance computational science, which encompasses the diverse areas of physical sciences, applied mathematics and computer science; data management and policies; machine learning and artificial intelligence, and advanced scientific computing research facilities.
Serve as a key team member in the Advanced Scientific Computing Research (ASCR) program's Facilities Division, which conceives, constructs, operates and oversees world-leading research computing, data, and network infrastructure for science and national research priorities.
Serve as the Program Manager for the ASCR Leadership Computing Challenge high performance computing (HPC) allocation program, which competitively allocates access to Department of Energy (DOE) leadership computing resources.
Justify, plan, initiate, manage and coordinate all aspects of the assigned Program Manager portfolio.
Organize, participate in, or lead workshops and program reviews to advance programmatic interests, strategic planning, and oversight.
Develop, coordinate, and organize resource allocations for assigned programs.
Develop and maintain information for a broad range of HPC computational science, and scientific user facility operations relevant to ASCR, the Office of Science, and DOE.

Qualifications
BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. (Must submit college transcripts.)
Evaluation of Education: Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.

Assessing the computing and data requirements of computational researchers.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting 1 of 3 of the following:
Determining an organization's or group's focus and direction for their research computing strategy, investments, or utilization.

Establishing, guiding, or conducting scientific methods and techniques in research computing.
