Major duties include but are not limited to the following:
Perform field observations, collect data on conditions, and assist in developing management actions based on prescribed guidelines.
Utilize manual and digital tools to collect data, including measuring tools and Geographic Positioning Systems (GPS).
Provide logistical support, orientation, and monitoring for management taken by others.
Conduct plant and wildlife field survey and collect scientific field data.
Manage and analyze field data and writes summary reports of plant and wildlife field surveys. Collects and organizes field data using standardized data collection procedures and equipment.

Fort Donelson National Battlefield (FODO) - Dover, TN - Term NTE: 6 years. Salary Range - $49,025 - $63,733 per year
Home of Franklin D Roosevelt (HOFR) - Hyde Park, NY - Term NTE: 3 years. Salary Range - $57,594 - $74,874 per year
Natchez Trace Parkway (NATR) - Tupelo, MS - Term NTE: 4 years. Salary Range - $49,025 - $63,733 per year

You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
You will be required to complete a one-year trial period.
FODO position located at Dover, TN; may be required to travel occasionally.
NATR position located at Tupelo, MS; may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: organizing, scheduling and executing established natural resource management project by independently planning and carrying out steps using established techniques to resolve problems. For example, planning field projects, independently choosing from among several possible courses of action at different stages of the project (e.g., selects site locations, sampling techniques, appropriate equipment, logistics, etc.); performs field and laboratory analysis; records preliminary information of data; and prepares draft project reports and written recommendations on resource management activities. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate education in an accredited educational institution (18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours) directly related to this position. Examples of directly related education are biology, botany, range science, forestry, ecology, environmental science, zoology, fisheries, animal husbandry, natural resource management or other directly related fields. You must include transcripts. -OR-
Successful combination of specialized experience and graduate level education. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours or equivalent earned towards a graduate degree and divide by 18 semester hours or equivalent. Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Note: You must include a copy of your transcripts that supports this claim with your application package.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

Physical Demands: The work is partially sedentary with prolonged standing, walking, and bending often required. Heavy items (e.g., equipment and packs up to 50 pounds) must be lifted and carried on a routine basis.
Working Conditions: The work is performed in an office, laboratory, and in the field. Field work includes exposure to extreme weather conditions and terrain, pesticides, poisonous plants, biting insects, and wild animals. Laboratory work may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals.
