Help

  • Performing receptionist duties, customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients and maintains appointment schedule for the clinic.
  • Acts as liaison between patients and the health care providers and coordinates all of the administrative information between the professional staff and the patient.
  • Takes and records vital signs and medical histories, prepare patients for examination, draw blood, and administer medications as directed by health care provider.
  • Responsible for fee/payment collection and medical coding and maintaining compliance with Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and its implementing regulations.
Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

One of the positions in this announcement is a career-seasonal position. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. If you accept the career-seasonal position associated with this announcement, you will work at least 21 pay periods and up to 25 pay periods (out of 26). You will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year. This non-pay occurs approximately from December 15th through December 28th.   • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

GS-5:
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing administrative, technical, and clinical (clerical) patient care duties, such as patient visit intake, scheduling appointments, taking patients' vital signs, and communicating clinical staff instructions to the patient. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least 4 years of education above high school. You must include transcripts.
-OR-
Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.

GS-6:
To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: providing the full range of administrative, technical, and clinical (clerical) duties, such as facilitating secure messaging with the patient and provider and notifying patients of normal lab results, entering appropriate information into the electronic record, making recommendations for improved clinic operations, taking patients' vital signs and specimens, and maintaining medical records information. You must include hours per week worked.

GS-7:
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing administrative, technical, and clinical (clerical) duties, such as performing record keeping duties, coding medical information for billing, and resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met, acting as a liaison between patients and the primary professional medical care provider, and performing procedures within the scope of practice to include sterile dressing application, radiology, applying orthopedic splits, and initiating intravenous (IVs). You must include hours per week worked.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

A Relocation Incentive May Be Authorized for a Federal employee when the employee must move, as directed by the National Park Service (NPS) either through a management directed reassignment or selection for employment, to a different location at least 50 miles away from the one where his/her position of record held at time of selection is currently located, due to a need of the NPS. A relocation incentive is not the same as a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move and, as such, may be granted in conjunction with one another.

This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.

Physical Demands: The incumbent must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. On occasion, the work may involve heavier lifting, walking and heavy physical activity. Mental stress and physical fatigue may occur due to high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with individuals and family members of individuals who are suffering from illness and/or injury.

Working Conditions: The work is performed in a medical clinic. Duties involve patient care in clinic rooms and treatment rooms as well as administrative work that will require office type work usually performed at a desk and computer. The work environment involves moderate to high risks (e.g. exposure to contagious diseases) and may require special safety precautions. Employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks or gloves. Employee may work near irate or impaired patients and consequently, there is a possible risk of verbal or physical abuse.
