This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As a Energy Technology Program Specialist, you will serve as a program specialist for the Vehicle Technologies Office. The position, on the Technology Integration team, supports the demonstration and deployment of high-impact technologies and solutions that enable the reliable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective integration of sustainable transportation for our nation.

Duties

Help

As a Energy Technology Program Specialist, you will:

  • Serve as a program specialist providing advice and expertise in transportation technology initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate energy conservation program effectiveness and implementation.
  • Maintain strategic relationship and collaborate with clean energy groups and supporting systems throughout the nation at Federal, State, and private industry levels.
  • Provide input on program budget, monitor program milestones and funding constraints.
  • Prepare presentations, briefing materials, papers, reports, and responses for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following

  1. Monitoring program transportation technology initiatives that improve energy efficiency and fuel economy.
  2. Assessing program budget and reporting funding constraints.
  3. Conducting briefings/presentations to disseminate program information and objectives to energy stakeholders.

"Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must (1) meet all of the requirements as described in this section; and 2) be rated "well-qualified", which is defined as scoring in the in Well Qualified category (or higher).
