Summary

This position is part of the WAPA-RMR-Rocky Mountain Region. As a Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic (Electronic Equipment Craftsman), you will maintain, modify, install, repair, program, and test a variety of simple to complex electronic equipment used in these categories: communication, control process computers, and supervisory control systems.

**This is not a remote position. The selectee will be required to be physically present at one of the duty location(s) identified.**

Duties

Help

As an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic, some of your duties will include:

  • Perform database modification.
  • Develop software test routines for verifying communication settings and operational specifications.
  • Perform work on communications equipment that is used for power system operation and control, relaying, data logging, and indication.
  • Perform work on control process computers and peripheral equipment.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in supervisory control and data acquisition equipment and analog, digital telemetering equipment.
  • Work from and interpret electrical drawings and electronic circuit diagrams. Install, align, calibrate, adjust and maintain equipment without endangering system operation.

  • Ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic independently and without more than normal supervision installing and commissioning, or, maintaining and repairing at least four of the following: microwave radio, mobile radio, voice and data communications, SCADA/RTU, fiber optic cable and multiplex equipment.

Working Conditions:

Work is done both indoors and outside in variable weather conditions. Work often requires much driving, some in rugged isolated areas requiring four-wheel drive, often alone. Work can require considerable travel requiring temporary lodging away from duty station. May be required to travel in a fixed wing aircraft, helicopter, snow mobile, or snow cat to work sites.

Physical Effort:

Work is indoors; however, outdoor activities are frequently encountered. May lift and carry loads 50 pounds, often in outdoor environments that pose difficult terrain issues. May work in close, restricted quarters. Standing, bending, stooping for long periods of time may be required. May be required to hike, climb, or use other methods to get to remote equipment sites as local terrain and climate conditions require. Must be able to climb communication towers up to 400 feet or as required.

  • You will be required to possess a pair of fully encased safety-toed footwear meeting the standard ASTM F 2413-05 upon reporting to work.
