WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Chief Information Security Officer you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Responsibility and authority for leading as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) within OIT providing leadership, strategic and innovative thinking, and pragmatic action to identify, plan, and execute strategies to achieve excellence in cybersecurity. The position oversees the development and implementation of strategies intended to improve the organization's cybersecurity posture, program, and customer experience, enhance cyber incident response to risks and threats while optimizing the value of enterprise architectures and technology portfolio.
  • CISO creates and manages process that drives toward secure and scalable cybersecurity solutions for the organizations technology portfolio that will in turn enable the ASPR mission.
  • Manages the staff assigned to the Cybersecurity Division and/or initiative and performs managerial duties, including organization of work groups, determination and adjustment of program goals, policies, objectives, and procedures, and resolution of policy and technical issues referred by staff for executive level attention.
  • Responsibility and authority to achieve excellence in IT customer service while promoting a culture of customer centric excellence across all customer touchpoints. Responsible for the partnering with industry to forecast emerging needs to target solution segments.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Basic Qualifications:

Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND

Have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3) of the following:
  1. Leading, planning, designing, developing, and facilitating deployment of information technology (IT) cybersecurity systems technologies for a variety of administrative, financial, technical and security applications.
  2. Evaluating the impact of new cybersecurity guidance on current programs and recommending changes to existing policies and processes to ensure compliance and responsiveness.
  3. Reviewing and analyzing existing processes; and recommending to senior management improvements, new workflows, and revised business models.
  4. Evaluating and implementing security products, procedures, and requirements to ensure systems meet applicable integrity requirements.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
