The BLM Branch of Geographic Sciences is seeking a dynamic and energetic supervisory land surveyor to join the leadership team to provide guidance, coordination, and management of the Cadastral Survey program in Oregon and Washington. This position is the Section Chief over the western Oregon survey program largely responsible for supporting the Bureau of Land Management's Timber Program, but can expect to be involved in the support of Federal agencies as well as tribal communities.

This position directly supervises a permanent staff of GS-12 Supervisory Land Surveyors and manages a total staff of about 25 employees. These employees are located in various District Offices in western Oregon. The incumbent is responsible managing the execution of safe field survey work, ensuring technically correct and legally defensible cadastral survey products, and the hiring and development of staff.

DUTIES:
As the Supervisory Land Surveyor in this position, you will:
Manage a dispersed workforce in the completion of Federal authority survey and other boundary risk assessments.
Ensure the technical correctness and legal defensibility of survey decisions.
Oversee the coordination of boundary needs in Western Oregon based on priority and capacity.
Communicate in various forms with internal and external customers and professionals about Federal Interest boundaries.
Plan and execute budget planning and tracking for workforce.
Coordinate hiring and outreach efforts with other sections of the Branch.

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.
GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
