WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Executive Officer, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  • Determining goals and objectives for IEA and articulating and communicating to IEA staff the assignment of goals, objectives, work projects, milestones, deadlines, timelines, and reporting requirements for completion.
  • Ensuring that team members understand the assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
  • Communicating the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision and values to the Team and integrates them into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, work products and services.
  • Leading team initiatives focusing on strategic planning, results management, quality improvement, and special management projects.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Specialized Experience (Minimum Qualification Requirement)

Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate ALL of the following:

  1. Managing administrative functions (e.g., budget and financial management, executive correspondence management, human capital management, procurement, information technology management, logistics and space management, and records management). Managing includes delivering internal services, ensuring the appropriate statutes, regulations, and rules are followed when providing the service, and strategic planning;
  2. Hiring, managing, and leading a diverse professional and administrative staff;
  3. Providing advice and counsel to senior leadership on complex management issues, which may include organizational issues, technical issues, management priorities, and sensitive personnel matters; and
  4. Serving as an advocate for programs and resource needs with various senior level groups, both internal and external.

In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
