The Tax Division is seeking highly skilled candidates with significant experience to serve as an Information Technology Specialist- Application Software (APPSW) in the Office of Management and Administration (OMA), Office of Information Technology, of the Tax Division. The incumbent will perform general application software development consisting of web development, DevOps, and cloud technologies across multiple teams or integration with other IT activities.

As a Information Technology Specialist-Application Software (APPSW) GS - 2210 - 13, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Planning IT projects to meet scope, scheduling, and delivery of multiple projects that provide business value to stakeholders;
  • Analyzing and translating system requirements into application prototypes;
  • Leveraging AWS cloud technology to improve work capacity and automate or streamline repeatable tasks;
  • Using the Agile and other methodologies to resolve complex, mission-critical projects;
  • Incorporating DevSecOps throughout the entire software development.

To qualify for the position of Information Technology Specialist-Application Software (APPSW) at (GS-2210-13), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.

For all 2210 positions, individuals must demonstrate they have experience in each of the four competencies listed below:Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendation.

AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-13 you MUST have at least one year of specialized experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector at the GS-12 grade level which includes but not limited to:

  • provide technical expertise and support for AWS Cloud Application Development;
  • demonstrate expertise in programming, software architecture design;
  • AWS cloud-based infrastructure configuration, and cloud security design;
  • operate and manage cloud services such as VPC, Lambda, Cloud Formation, SecDevOps and (CI/CD) pipelines;
  • provide input on software requirements for legal Case Management Applications;
  • validate and verify software requirements through inspection, testing and analysis;
  • develop software tests, including unit and regression tests.
Time in Grade Requirement: Current government employees on a permanent appointment in the competitive service must demonstrate one year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the occupational series and grade.
