Cleans exhibit areas within the Hubbell House and Trading Post, in the main storage area, and in curatorial work areas on a routine basis which include artifacts of fabric, paper, wood, silver, earthenware, porcelain, glassware, etc., using techniques that ensure the continued preservation of all objects.
Monitors environmental conditions in storage and exhibit areas by visual inspection for dust, dirt, mold, mildew, and pest infestation.
Prepares all incoming materials/artifacts for inclusion into the museum collection using National Park Service (NPS) standards for accessioning and cataloging museum objects.
Assists in conducting annual random and controlled inventories of the museum collections.
Assists park staff and researchers with request for information and other museum materials.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-06/30/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: the operation or management of a museum or similar collection of valuable objects. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include collections management, registration, cataloging, research, or preservation of collections of museum material. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full academic year (18 semester hours or 27 quarter hours) of related graduate level education. Related fields of study include museum studies, library sciences, or history. If qualifying based on education, you must include transcripts in your application materials.

Combination of specialized experience and education as described above which total at least one year. For example, 6 months specialized experience, and 9 semester hours or 14 quarter hours of related graduate level education. Physical Demands: The work is partially sedentary with prolonged standing, walking, and bending often required. Heavy items (e.g., boxes up to 50 pounds) must be lifted or moved frequently.
Working Conditions: Most of the work is performed in a museum environment of exhibit and storage areas, workroom/laboratory, and offices. Occasional work with materials which are dusty or stored with protective chemicals may require the use of dust masks, gloves, or other protective devices.
