WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As an Intergovernmental Affairs Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) to optimize business results and customer experience by:

Serving as coordinator, facilitator, and expediter for the director in solving crosscutting or special problems.

Preparing hot issues and briefing materials for the White House, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Director of IEA.

Working with other Federal departments and agencies when interagency efforts are required to implement new policies or resolve problems and issues that affect HHS.

Working to ensure that a full range of views are presented to the department from public officials, interest and client groups, and the general public on legislative and other policy issues which are in the developmental state.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:
Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service performing at least ALL of the following: 1) Serving as an advisor or consultant on trends/issues affecting policies and/or programs associated with healthcare or human services. 2) Developing and presenting information to various stakeholders on program initiatives/policies. 3) Representing and interacting with officials in or out of the government to explain, promote, and/or resolve issues relating to an agency's mission.

In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
