As a Special Assistant United States Attorney/Special Trial Attorney Attorney-Advisor, you will be responsible for the following:
Specialized Experience Requirements:
In addition to the basic education requirement, applicants must have at least one year of specialized Attorney-Advisor (General) experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service presenting cases to the DOJ and to the United States Attorney's Offices as the lead role in the prosecution of those cases in federal court. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following: (1) Manage the prosecution team, which may encompass special agents and investigative support staff from multiple agencies, in all criminal and civil matters referred to the U.S. Attorney's Office; (2) Identify the scope of the prosecution and direct the strategic approach into the prosecution of Federal criminal/civil offenses; (3) Review evidence collected by special agents to reach an independent decision of the prosecutorial merit of each investigation; and (4) Develop prosecution theories and methodologies to organize and present facts to Federal grand juries, empaneled juries, and Federal judges.
Basic Education Requirement: Applicants must possess a JD degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (or have an LLM (Master of Laws) degree or other graduate law degree in addition to a JD).
Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs. You will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications, if selected. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree. Academic transcripts certified by notary publics are NOT official. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to reporting to work as a condition of employment. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal or rescission of the job offer.
