Summary

This position is located in the Building Technologies Office (BTO) within the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). The mission of BTO is to develop, demonstrate, and accelerate the adoption of cost-effective technologies, techniques, tools, and services that
enable high-performing, energy-efficient, and demand-flexible residential and commercial buildings in both the new and existing buildings.

Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Program Manager, you will:

  • Manage and direct the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of a national Emerging Technologies Program.
  • Direct the formulation and integration of the scientific, engineering, and technical requirement necessary to structure an effective and impactful Emerging Technologies Program.
  • Coordinate across EERE technology offices and programs to address technology integration issues, approach, and strategies (e.g., building-grid, renewables, electric vehicles, and weatherization).
  • Analyze and make recommendations on strategies supporting building energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives, including recommendations on initiatives for other BTO programs.
  • Coordinate energy efficient Emerging Technology program efforts amongst other agencies, states, and localities.
  • Represent the Office on interagency task forces, committees, and other groups or conferences relating to technical and policy issues.

  • New supervisors are required to complete 80 hours of supervisory training of which 40 hours must be completed during your first year as a supervisor.

  • Subject to the appropriate background investigation to determine suitability or fitness for federal employment. Continued employment is contingent upon favorable adjudications of periodic reinvestigations, if applicable.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
  • Senior Level experience managing energy and climate regulatory programs with federal or state governments, national laboratories and/or with national stakeholders.
  • Experience leading technical and management guidance and advice on the most appropriate method or procedures of analysis and evaluation to accomplish the mission and ensure optimum R&D management strategy.
  • Senior Level experience leading the development and deployment of U.S. domestic energy and climate policies and regulations, best practices and tools across multiple entities, to advance and or improve energy efficiency and/or emissions reduction policies and programs, in turn resulting in the adoption and implementation by federal, state and local jurisdictions, builders, utilities, or other stakeholders, thereby increasing the energy efficiency and decarbonization of buildings.

NOTE: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-15 level.
