The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of duties associated with the collection of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA). At this grade level, the position is primarily responsible for carrying out clerical assignments that involve the application of general fee program knowledge and the fundamental practices and procedures of fee collection.

Serves as a front-line customer service representative. The major duties of the position include completing credit/debit card transactions. Collect appropriate fees at a park entrance station, visitor center, campground, fee cannister, automated fee machines, donation boxes, and/or other visitor contact station(s) in accordance with established accountability guidelines for handling government funds. Determine visitor eligibility for the sale of various interagency park passes. Provide excellent customer service and refer issues to a higher graded employee or supervisor when necessary. Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or point-of-sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions. Perform opening and closing shift functions. Issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, park passes, and/or federal recreation passes in accordance with established guidelines. Verify entrance receipts and various passes for validity dates and ownership. Complete shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold, and all machine transactions from the shift, using shift accountability, receipt tapes, and a register of voided transactions. Safeguard funds collected and accountable stock under the incumbent's control. Use automated reservation systems to process routine, simple payments, transactions, and reservations for campgrounds, tours, tickets, backcountry permits, Special Use Permits, etc.
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Physical Demands: This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, and lifting of moderately heavy items.
