Responsible for managing, developing, and executing transportation projects, including planning, design, and construction efforts on park roads and parkways, paved trails, bridges, tunnels, and transit systems.
Supports the Service-wdie Comprehensive Call for projects, including conceptualizing, identifying, and developing projects and prioritizing and programming them into the region mult-year.
Serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
Coordinates review of submittals and work of on-site inspectors, usually in coordination with partners.

To qualify for the Civil Engineer GS 0810:
Successfully completed a full 4-year professional engineering curriculum, leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering from an accredited college or university that has an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Successfully completed a full 4-year professional engineering curriculum leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in engineering. The curriculum included differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry): (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Degree: community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance.
Note: Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner.

Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

A degree in landscape architecture or landscape design.

Experience Equivalent to a Degree in Landscape Architecture: A degree in landscape architecture indicates that an applicant has the basic background to perform professional landscape architectural work at the beginning levels and has the potential to develop the skills and abilities required at the higher levels. Experience may be substituted for education to the extent that it provided the equivalent background. However, because an education provides some knowledge that cannot be measured in terms of course content, but rather is part of general knowledge and cultural background gained as a result of interrelationships among courses, careful judgment must be used in evaluating experience substituted for education as provided for in paragraph B of the basic requirements. Applicants who apply on the basis of experience in lieu of education are required to show how their background is equivalent to a degree. To Qualify for the GS 12, you must meet the following specialized experience requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience which includes but is not limited to the following: Skill in applying, knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of one of the disciplines (community planning, civil engineering) to provide project management expertise to program staff and park managers; knowledge of theories, principles, practices and techniques of transportation planning, project management and construction practices in order to participate with and manage work of consultants and staff engaged in project planning and design; knowledge of the principles of transportation safety, multiuse trail geometries, construction materials, structural design for paved surfaces, traffic engineering, geotechnical engineering related to linear transportation assets, and transit operations.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Education
