Summary

This position is part of the WAPA-SNR-Sierra Nevada Region. As a Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic (Meter & Relay), you will maintain, repair, modify, program, install and commission power system substation protection control, monitoring and metering equipment. If you are not currently a WAPA journeyman you will receive entry-level pay with the possibility of promotion to full journeyman status after meeting certification and performance requirements (generally within 3-6 months).

Duties

Help

Maintain, repair, modify, program, install and commission power system substation protection control, monitoring and metering equipment. Maintain, repair, install, program, and test revenue metering equipment, including electronic and microprocessor based kilo watt hour meters, digital demand recorders, panel meters, transducers, and instrument transformers. Maintain, repair, install, program, and test control equipment used in controlling substation equipment.

This position requires completion of an annual medical examination at Federal expense.
You must test negative for illegal drugs before placement in the position, and will be subject to random drug testing thereafter. If a determination of the use of illegal drugs is confirmed, non-selection or disciplinary action, up to and including removal from Federal service, may result.
This position may require regular and recurring overtime. Overtime may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays and weekends in support of related mission requirements.
The incumbent must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
The incumbent must wear Arc Rated protective clothing when in proximity to exposed energized circuits.
The incumbent of this position is subject to inclement weather conditions such as high temperatures, rain, sleet, snow, and extreme cold.
This position requires the ability to operate a Government vehicle. The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age, able to obtain and maintain Defensive Drivers certification and have a valid state driver's license. Defensive Driver's Training will be completed upon employment.

Qualifications

Qualifications: You must have journeyman-level ability in the duties of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic (Meter & Relay). You must meet all the qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement.

Ability to do the work of a Meter and Relay Craftsman independently without greater than normal supervision (Install and commission, or maintain and repair, protective relay equipment and/or polyphase revenue metering equipment associated with power system distribution or transmission systems.) Screen-out
