Duties

Help

As an Energy Technology Program Specialist, you will:

  • Provide technical expertise in the development and siting of renewable energy projects to support the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Power in the development of a national strategy for renewable energy deployment.
  • Identify cross-cutting opportunities for collaboration on siting research and energy project siting, development, and deployment, to include research in both technical and social science areas across multiple renewable energy technologies.
  • Within Renewable Power, lead a team of representatives from the technologies offices to develop and pursue these initiatives; represent DOE with external stakeholders to understand critical challenges to increased renewable energy adoption and connect DOE technical programs in renewable energy siting with relevant project developers, utilities, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop high-level strategic communications materials on energy efficiency and renewable energy project/program objectives, content, and progress; communicate Department of Energy and Renewable Power strategic priorities to DOE senior leadership, the White House, and other Federal agency partners.
  • Review and monitor expenditures for assigned projects/programs; develop justifications for required program efforts and outline consequences of not providing the necessary funding.
  • Develop systems and procedures to effectively and efficiently meet statutory requirements and Departmental goals; evaluate procedures and policies and recommend and develop solutions/ improvements; collaborate frequently face-to-face (through video calls and in person, including travel) with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
Experience developing best practices and recommendations for the equitable siting and development of renewable energy projects.
Experience assisting with developing, recommending, and overseeing renewable energy development and deployment programs & projects, and reporting impacts and outcomes to management.
Experience assisting with the development of public engagement strategies and campaigns related to renewable energy development and drafting proposals to management on issues surrounding support & opposition to renewable energy and large infrastructure development in a wide range of different types of communities.

Education

Education cannot be substituted in lieu of specialized experience at this grade level.
