Summary

This announcement is open to individuals who graduated from a 2- or 4-year program of study from a college, university, or trade school within the past two years, from the closing date of this announcement.
1. Performs routine and non-complex security functions under the guidance of senior Chief Information Security Officers.
2. Interacts with Federal court officials, DOJ prosecutors, defense attorneys, individuals from the Intelligence community regarding national security
issues in litigation.
3. Conducts security indoctrination briefings for access to classified information.
4. Supports initiation of security procedures for classified court proceedings.
5. Provides security support to Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities maintained by the Litigation Support Group at Federal courts nationwide.
6. Interpret statutes, regulations, Executive Orders, and/or other guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance in a litigation security program.

To qualify for the position of Security Specialist (GS-0080-7/9), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
Basic Qualification Requirement(s)

Specialized Experience Requirement(s)
For the GS-7 level,
You must have at least one year of specialized experience (equivalent to a GS-5 or equivalent pay band in the Federal service) that includes: (1) Performing routine and non-complex security functions (e.g. arranging delivery of classified documents and utilizing automated security databases; (2) Conducting information security briefings prior to granting access to information systems or data, or serving as a Systems Administrator that grants access to information systems; and (3) Supporting national security issues arising from litigation.
For the GS-9 level,
You must have at least one year of specialized experience (equivalent to a GS-7 or equivalent pay band in the Federal service) that includes: (1) Advising higher-level security specialists on routine and non-complex security functions (e.g., determining delivery of classified documents and managing data in automated security databases or similar information systems; (2) Monitoring access to classified information; (3) Reporting on national security issues in support of litigation; and (4) Providing support to staff at secured locations, such as Federal courthouses.
