As a Center Director within the Colorado Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:
Supervision - fulfill the obligations, mission goals and strategic directions of the CWSC through: effective configuration and management of the CWSC workforce; provision of necessary resources and training; ensuring accountability in conduct and performance through application of DOI and USGS policies; and providing for a safe work environment.
Project Management- fulfill the obligations, mission goals and strategic directions of the CWSC by: obtaining and distributing necessary resources; providing sound fiscal and operational management; and optimizing facilities to realize cost efficiencies and support scientific excellence;
Science Management- fulfill the obligations, mission goals and strategic directions of the CWSC by: defining the overall science program of the CWSC; overseeing the planning, conduct, and completion of all CWSC science activities; developing science strategies in response to current and future needs; and ensuring the integrity of CWSC science activities and products through the application and enforcement of USGS science quality policies
Communication & Representation: active representation of and advocacy for all CWSC employees, activities, and capabilities; active communication of information to, from, and through the CWSC; represent CWSC, RMR, and USGS in communication to Federal, state, tribal and local agencies; and advise RMR and USGS leadership about sensitive issues, impacts, and actions or remedies.

Qualifications
BASICEDUCATIONREQUIREMENT FOR GS-1315, HYDROLOGIST: Applicants must meet A or B below to satisfy the basic education requirement for Hydrologist, all grade levels.
A. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in physical or natural science, or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours or the equivalent in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, aquatic biology, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, oceanography, or the management or conservation of water resources. The course work must have included at least 6 semester hours or the equivalent in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours or the equivalent in physics.
B. A combination of education and experience-course work as shown in "A" above (30 semester hours or the equivalent in any combination of courses as specified in "A" above which must include at least 6 semester hours or the equivalent in calculus (including both differential and integral calculus), and at least 6 semester hours or the equivalent in physics), plus appropriate experience and/or additional education for a total of 4 years. The education or combined education and experience must be comparable in type, scope and thoroughness to that acquired through successful completion of a 4-year course of study as described in "A" above. For GS-15:
In addition to the basic education requirements, you must have 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: 1) Developing and coordinating hydrologic science projects; 2) developing or directly influencing the scientific, administrative and technical policies, standards, procedures, and instructions necessary for the effective direction and operation of a hydrologic science program; 3) serving as the principal contact with Federal agencies, state and local government organizations, or other groups that may affect the success of a hydrologic science program.
