Open to current students accepted to or enrolled at least half-time in a degree or certificate seeking program. Enrollment must be with accredited educational institutions or state approved home school. Must be a student in good standing (minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0.
This position works in the park's Ranger Division which includes interpretation, and cultural and natural resource management. The incumbent serves as a front-line representative of the agency by working at the information desks of the monument's visitor contact facilities. Operates a cooperating association cash register in order to provide the public with a variety of interpretive media. Responsible for providing current, accurate information to visitors concerning monument features, facilities, events, programs and activities. Presents limited pre-established interpretative programs related to homesteading history, natural and cultural resources; including orientation talks. May assist with school groups and programs. May assist with special events. Operates a variety of audiovisual and other equipment. Reviews and edits brochures, fliers, site bulletins for accurate information and makes changes with supervisory approval. This position requires fee collection/money handling.

This position is located in Beatrice, NE and all work must be done on site at this location.

You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or overtime.
This position has a mixed work schedule based on the varying workload, and your work schedule is subject to change from part-time to full-time to on-call as workload dictates.
The entire period served under the Intern Program counts as a trial period.

EXPERIENCE: At least six (6) months of general experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-02 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). General Experience is any type of work that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position. You must include years, months and hours per week worked.
-OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one year of education above high school (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) which included a least 6 semester hours of directly related courses, such as in American history, science, public speaking, parks & recreation, education or communications.
