This position is located in the Foreign Investment Review Section (FIRS). FIRS serves as the Department's staff-level representative on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S. (CFIUS) and related national security entities.
The duties and responsibilities for the 1412 Technical Information Specialist include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform a broad range of technical information activities that require analysis of difficult and complex circumstances.
Solve problems in informational access and dissemination.
Conduct research and analysis of the telecommunications and cyber security industries and provide definitive results.
Train new team members and others outside immediate work environment.
Prepare responses to inquires re: vulnerability assessments.
Convey findings through written and oral reports, abstracts, summaries, charts, graphs, maintenance of databases, or other products.
Identify and evaluate major publications, electronic resources, and trends in the telecommunications industry for validity and relevance to research goals.
Assist Attorneys in drafting technical and technology-related portions of mitigation agreements and monitoring them.
You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Technical Information Specialist at (GS-1412-13), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes the following: 1) Performing duties related to researching cybersecurity information; 2) Performing duties related to telecommunications technologies and industries; and 3) Documenting written research analysis results.
