The Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) serves the community of Inspectors General through its mission to address integrity, economy, and effectiveness issues that transcend individual Government agencies; and increase the professionalism and effectiveness of personnel by developing policies, standards, and approaches to aid in the establishment of a well-trained and highly skilled workforce in the offices of the Inspectors General.

Duties

Help

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Expert skill in negotiating resolutions of strongly contested issues in both oral and written communication.
  • Directly supports Congressional oversight (Congressional committees and individual members of Congress.
  • Recommend major changes to policy, procedures, or program matters, which will enhance the effective and economical operation of previously identified programs.
  • Develop authoritative papers and reports.
  • Agency spokesperson on a diverse range of issues.
  • Plan, schedule and direct management of sub-level activities related to the program area and in accordance with policies and guidelines.
  • Complete the development of new and/or proposed guidelines and procedures that serve as a foundation to establish organizational policies pertaining to the program area.
  • Prepare budgets, manages formulation and execution.
  • Define and modify research and/or programmatic objectives, devising innovative ways to solve problems of major importance to the agency.
  • Analyze and understand data and makes sound recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Build, post, and maintain website content.
  • Create and maintain a unified and internal affairs strategy.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


To be qualify for this position at the GS-15 grade level, you must possess the following:

One full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) negotiating resolutions on contested issues involving resources or changes; (2) supporting Congressional oversight (Congressional committees and individual members of Congress; (3) preparing budget formulation and execution for program area;(4) performing data analysis to make sound recommendations; and (5) developing new and/or proposed policies, procedures, or guidelines to enhance operations.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
