Relocation expenses reimbursed
Yes—Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside of the local commuting area, and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations.
Provide leadership, strategic direction, and managerial oversight for the unique and highly diverse vegetation resources in the Pacific West Region (PWR).
Serve as principal advisor to the PWR National Resources Chief, PWR Science Program Lead, PWR Fire Program and other program leads and managers.
Provide leadership and assistance to PWR parks and Inventory and Monitoring networks on vegetation resources, including special-status species, native plan community conservation, invasive plant management, and habitat restoration.
Manage the PWR Integrated Pest Management Program, including the Pesticide Use Proposal System, providing guidance and assistance to park Integrated Pest Management programs.
Develop work and plans and schedules, scopes of work, cost estimates, and proposals and/or grants to justify funding requests and accomplish goals.
Develop and implement long range plans for the inventory, evaluation, documentation, preservation, research and interpretation of plant ecology.
Identifies research needs, prepares requests for research proposals or statements of work and provides oversight for research projects. Serves as the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative for projects conducted through contracts, interagency agreements, and cooperative agreements.
Develops and conducts scientifically credible protection, mitigation and restoration projects.
Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.

You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EDUCATION: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in biology or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester hours in ecology and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. You must include a copy of your transcripts. - AND- EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include duties such as: serving as an advisor to management in the areas of natural resource management, environmental regulation, impact of technology on the environment, environmental compliance and environmental planning as it relates to the protection and preservation of national resources; oversight of programs governing the implementation of environmental requirements to ensure the protection of the environment; and resolving sensitive and complex natural resource and/or environmental issues. You must include hours worked per week.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Physical Demands: The position may require strenuous physical activity including periods of standing, walking, climbing, and lifting and carrying heavy objects. Some activities could occur in physically dangerous areas or settings.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather. Assignments may be performed in potentially hazardous areas including steep slopes, rocky terrain, volcanoes, caves, fire lines, arctic environments, swamps, deserts and forests. Flying in fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters is possible.
The National Park Service has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for some amount of telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework for agreed upon number of days per month with supervisor approval.
