The Oklahoma City National Memorial is a 3.3 acre Outdoor Symbolic Memorial built to remember "those who were killed, those who survived, and those changed forever" by the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The Memorial and Museum are owned and administered by the private Oklahoma City National Memorial Foundation. The National Park Service serves as partner to the Foundation, staffing the grounds of the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial. This consists primarily of roving interpretation and scheduled group talks. This site also serves as the Oklahoma State Coordinator's office for which interpreters may also work community outreach events.
The major duties of the position: multiple times daily, year round roving the Outdoor Symbolic Memorial making informal interpretive contacts responding to visitor inquiries, needs, and complaints; providing information about the site and the surrounding areas; presenting multiple daily conducted programs/ formal interpretation such as talks and walks. Also collateral duties: replying to oral and written inquiries about park resources and programs, promoting NPS national programs to visitors who may not be familiar with them, and work with a state wide NPS social media presence, among other duties.

Physical Demands: The work requires standing for long periods of time, walking for long distances, climbing and descending steep inclines, bending, and lifting moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts, occasional emergency responses, and repetitive nature of interpretive programs.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors resulting in exposure to a variety of weather conditions.
