This position is a full-time temporary position not-to-exceed 1039 regular hours (about 6 months) in a service year. Position may be terminated sooner or extended depending on management needs. Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for rehire in subsequent service years.
The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Cabrillo National Monument is June, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: August 06, 2017.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.

Provides custodial duties for buildings and grounds. Drives pickup truck, electric low speed vehicles. Cleans, sanitizes commodes, urinals, sinks and floors. Waxes and polishes hard surface floors, using floor machines. Adjusts, cleans and oils these machines and changes brushes, rollers, buffers and other attachments on them. Uses hand and power operated tools safely and properly. Participates actively in the Park's safety program. Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment. Removes scrap and trash cans from area to central pickup point. Wipes benches, machinery, etc. as directed. Performs general trash collection/removal from areas such as offices, restrooms, public areas.
Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
Government housing is NOT available.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

Physical Demands: Moderately heavy physical effort is required when using ladder and scaffolds to clean walls, ceilings, windows, ceiling fixtures, etc.; operating powered equipment; removing cans of or other containers of trash; and occasionally lifts objects weighing over 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light and ventilation. Is exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc. Care is required to avoid serious injuries working on ladders and scaffolds and when using heavy powered equipment. Occasionally works outdoors in possible inclement weather conditions and/or extreme temperatures.
