WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY

As a Writer-Editor, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

  1. Preparing speeches and written materials for public health and related organizations that clearly and effectively demonstrate impact, priorities, and outcomes. This also includes communicating clearly and concisely, in plain language, organizational priorities and key initiatives, as well as other key initiatives.
  2. Writing speeches and talking points, as well as some of the following: journal, op-ed and magazine articles; press releases; digital content (including blog posts and social media); broad internal communications; and audiovisual presentations/slide decks.
  3. Reviewing work written by others for editorial quality, consistency, and compliance with established style, format, content guidance, accuracy, readability, and appropriateness. Providing detailed feedback to highlight strengths and areas for improvement. Developing and implementing editorial policies, practices, guidelines, and standards in accordance with those established.
  4. Working quickly on multiple products under intense time pressure, without sacrificing quality. Adapting to rapidly changing situations, issues or requirements. Providing expert counsel to leadership and offering solutions to problems based on a thorough analysis of issues.
  5. Managing publishing projects from concept to final product including keeping to a deadline and following proper clearance processes. Integrating and troubleshooting the work of other subject matter experts, communications specialists, and others throughout the development process.

Minimum Qualifications:

For GS-14 Grade Level:
At least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service in the following areas: Preparing speeches and written materials for public health and related organizations that clearly and effectively demonstrate impact, priorities, and outcomes; Reviewing work written by others for editorial quality, consistency, and compliance with established style, format, content guidance, accuracy, readability, and provide detailed feedback.

If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
