As a Statistician (Health), you will use your knowledge of and experience with advanced statistical theories, principles, concepts, methods, techniques, and practices to optimize business results and customer experience by:
Preparing an explanation of the methodologies, results, and relevance of issues and problems under study.
Preparing analyses of statistical reports for distribution to staff and for transmittal to managers.
Performing special studies and written analyses of State adherence to management performance standards.
Developing guidelines and providing authoritative interpretations of statistical policies for various State systems that conform to HHS requirements.
Consulting with leadership on complex statistical studies and consulting with and collaborates with other scientists on aspects of study design, analysis, and interpretation.
Applying a variety of statistical techniques such as logistic regression, survival models, and generalized risk models, analysis of frequency distributions; analyzing and modeling of multivariate; sampling; analyzing variance; determining confidence limits; and estimating magnitudes to health data.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Basic Requirements for Statistics Series, 1530:
Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience using statistical and data visualization software to handle data manipulations, analyses and visualizations; AND experience in survey/surveillance data collection tools and methodologies, especially with public health populations; AND utilizing a wide range of quantitative methods for assessment of public health programs.
For GS-13:
You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience in survey/surveillance data collection tools and methodologies, especially with public health populations; AND utilizing a wide range of quantitative methods for the assessment of public health programs; AND using statistical and data visualization software to handle data manipulations, analyses and visualizations.
