    Summary

    The incumbent serves as the Archaeologist for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) for NPS Cultural Resources, Partnerships, and Science (CRPS) Directorate, in Washington, D.C., and for the NPS Climate Change Response Program (CCRP), in Fort Collins, CO.

    Responsibilities

    The major duties of this Archaeologist position include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Provides expertise on managing adaptation for archaeological resources and sites and other cultural resources in the face of climate change, and participates in coordinating and developing policy, interpretation, and technical guidance across the National Park System.
    • Works closely with the CCRP Program Manager and the CCA Historical Architect on strategies and technical approaches for protecting park resources in a changing climate.
    • Assists in budgeting, surveying, reporting on, and evaluating service-wide cultural resources adaptation management efforts, and in collaboration with WASO and regional program managers, recommends, climate change priorities and direction for the NPS cultural resources programs to the natural resources Associate Directors.
    Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
