This position serves as program coordinator for the Stewardship Goal Implementation Team and facilitates coordination and engagement among non-governmental organizations and local, state and federal agencies to achieve goals and outcomes set through the Chesapeake Bay Program's (CBP) 2014 Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement and Executive Order (EO) 13508 -- Chesapeake Bay Protection and Restoration. The CBP is a regional partnership leading and directing restoration of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries since 1983.
Responsibilities include: developing, coordinating and facilitating partner implementation of plans, strategies, initiatives and projects to conserve and protect land, expand public access and outdoor recreation, foster citizen stewardship, enhance environmental literacy and expand diversity, equity and inclusion in these efforts; providing expert technical assistance to partner organizations on planning related to land conservation, public access, citizen stewardship; building networks and collaboration with partners to achieve shared goals; and coordinating tracking of progress to implement goals, management strategies and action plans.
Position Location: This position will be located in the National Park Service (NPS) Chesapeake Bay Office in Annapolis, Maryland. This office represents the NPS in the Chesapeake Bay Program partnership, coordinated by the US Environmental Protection Agency, in Annapolis, MD. Annapolis, Maryland's capital, is located approximately 25 miles east of Washington, DC and 20 miles south of Baltimore. Celebrated as America's sailing capital, Annapolis sits on the Chesapeake Bay and has a deep and lengthy maritime heritage. The city has 37,000 residents but, as a tourist destination, attracts many times that number annually. The county surrounding Annapolis has over 500,000 residents. Educational institutions include St. John's College and the US Naval Academy. The city has a large number of restaurants, shops and all amenities associated with a state capital near a large metropolitan area. Summer temperatures are generally warm and humid and winters are usually mild.
There is no substitution of education for experience at the grade level of this announcement.

Physical Demands: Some physical exertion is required during site visits and trips to inspect problems and projects. This can involve wading in water, hiking over rolling or rocky terrain and exposure to adverse weather conditions. Such trips are intermittent, however, and the work is predominantly sedentary. Driving a vehicle is required in order to perform the duties of the position and requires maintaining a valid state driver's license.
Working Conditions: Normally the work is performed in an office setting though often in project locales, involving evenings and weekends. On field trips, occasional exposure to moderate discomfort such as extremes of heat or cold and inclement weather may occur. Work is primarily within the Chesapeake Bay watershed, with occasional trips to other parts of the country.You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
