    Summary

    The mission of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from our Nation's past conflicts to their families and our Nation. DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover and identify remains of DoD personnel unaccounted for from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, and the Iraq conflicts and Persian Gulf War.     Responsibilities

    Your typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Coordinate the tasking and monitoring of the work of other researchers to ensure all casework conforms to Agency requirements, shepherding all cases through the entire development process, and serving as the subject matter expert and point of contact for area of research.
    • Conducting historical studies; obtaining, collecting, analyzing, exploiting, and integrating all available historical evidence and information.
    • Provide expert advice, consultations, and recommendations for a wide variety of analytical and administrative operations connected with the formulation, presentation, and execution of the DPAA historical research program.
    • Provide on-site support to field operations through comprehensive analysis and expert judgment of collected intelligence, information, and artifacts.
    • Conduct field and on-site interviews with local personnel as applicable in order to increase and corroborate existing knowledge.
    • Conduct research projects and special analyses resulting in official publications of national and international significance that further case resolution on missing persons.
